Reading Assessment

Garforth Education is currently offering the following assessments:

Reading Screening Assessment

Learning to read is the first real job children have when they go to school. If you are concerned with your child’s readiness for learning to read or whether they are making suitable progress in their reading development at school, then consider a Reading Screening Assessment.

Thanks to years of research, we can now screen and predict a child’s future reading success and identify if they are at risk for a reading disability such as dyslexia. This assessment is intended for children between the ages of 4 - 9 years old and is designed to assess risk, not formally diagnose a child with a learning disability.

The results of this assessment include recommendations for the next steps you can take to support your child’s reading development.

Kindergarten Readiness Assessment

Kindergarten Readiness Assessments are for 4-year-old children. This informal assessment looks at skills that will be required for Kindergarten. The results provide parents with enrichment activities to do with their child to make the transition into Kindergarten a success!

Plan to Read Assessment

Plan to Read Assessments are for students in grades 1 – 3 who are struggling with reading. This informal assessment identifies skills the student needs to improve on. The result identifies areas in which the child needs help and provides parents with specific activities they can do at home with their child to improve these skills.

The Intervention Plan ($897)

Dr. Kathryn Garforth does an in-depth review of your child’s psycho-educational assessment. She creates a multi-step intervention plan based on your child’s unique needs. She makes recommendations for appropriate adaptations, accommodations, modifications, or assistive technology.

You will then have an appointment to review the plan she has created for your child. The Intervention Plan includes complimentary enrollment in A Parent’s Guide to PsychEds.
This course provides you with the background you need to read your child's report.

The IEP Plan ($697)

Dr. Kathryn Garforth reviews your child’s psycho-educational assessment, report cards, and their previous IEP (if available). From this material, she will create a plan for how she
would approach your child’s next IEP meeting. The plan will include suggestions for goals, objectives, adaptations, accommodations, modifications and assistive technology
she feels would help support your child at school.

The IEP Plan comes in an IEP Binder Customized to your child's needs. The glossary will include additional terms from your child's psych-ed assessment. Dr. Kathryn Garforth will answer any of your questions when she meets with you to discuss your child's IEP Plan.

The IEP Plan includes complimentary enrollment in A Parent’s Guide to IEPs. This course gives you a solid background in everything related to IEPs so that you can to walk into your child’s next IEP Meeting with more confidence.

Intervention & IEP Package ($1,397)

The Intervention & IEP Package combines the benefits of each of these plans by having Dr. Kathryn Garforth create an intervention based on your child’s unique needs and include that information in your child's IEP plan.

This package will include the features listed in both the Intervention Plan and the IEP Plan.
